If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them. (Science and Health, p 420:4–7)
Christian Science practitioners are men and women devoted to the practice of Christian Science healing, motivated by their love of God and a sincere desire to help others. Prayer-based and non-medical, Christian Science treatment is firmly rooted in the Bible, particularly the life and healing ministry of Jesus, and explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
To be in the full time public ministry as a Christian Science practitioner, an individual must dedicate his/her life to healing through prayer as Jesus taught, understand the teachings and directives of Mary Baker Eddy, have taken Christian Science Primary Class instruction from an authorized teacher, and have demonstrated a proficiency in healing the sick. To apply for listing in The Christian Science Journal, such an individual must be ready to devote his/her full time to this healing ministry and have no other vocation.
Anyone may call upon a Christian Science practitioner if they are seeking healing through prayer alone. If you call on behalf of someone else, the practitioner will need to work directly with that person if possible. Generally, practitioners pray only when consent for this form of treatment has been given by the patient. If needed, please feel free to discuss your circumstances with the practitioner.
The relationship between practitioner and patient is confidential, and remuneration for the work is expected. Fees are set by the practitioner and may vary between practitioners.
The work carried out by Christian Science practitioners furthers the promise and efficacy of Christian Science in healing the sick and supporting church members in their daily lives.
